Unfortunately, we didn't receive the CAT scan results today. The NICU was crazy - quite a few babies were born and 4 nurses called out sick. We had four nurses rotate through throughout the 12-hour day shift (they each kept getting called to emergency surgeries and had replacements come in)! At the end of the shift, we actually had a pediatric nurse taking care of Owen instead of a NICU nurse! We're taking it as a very good sign that the doctors didn't stop everything to come and chat with us about the results - most likely it means all is well! We'll hopefully know for sure tomorrow.
We did meet with the dr at 10am for Grand Rounds. I brought up Owen's possible reflux and they said they would help monitor it and if necessary, they would stop him on some medicine. It won't stop the reflux from happening, but decrease the acidity so it won't cause as much damage or hurt him as badly. It was reassuring today, however, that we hardly noticed any reflux symptoms! Hopefully he was just adjusting to his new fortified food and reflux was never the cause.
On a lighter note, we have determined that Owen LOVES when I hum or sing to him. His favorite is the lullaby his Daddy wrote for him. Rory wrote it - with guitar accompaniment - when Owen was still inside me and used to play it for him every night once he was supposed to be able to 'hear' outside noises.
So, whenever Owen is upset about something I begin to hum and instantly all of his stats level out. Really - it's almost instant. Even the nurses have commented on it! It's a really neat reaction. Yesterday I was humming to him quite a bit and finally Rory looked over at me and said, "I REALLY need to write a second verse!!!!!!" Apparently the one verse tune was really getting on his nerves. HA!
PS - We're wrapping up Owen's birth story! We're planning to post it on his one month birthday. Yea!
