Here's the birthday shot of the day (he was sleepy & wouldn't open his eyes!):
Owen had a great day today! He did a great job breast feeding (16cc's), and got really close to finishing two other bottles as well (47 and 50 cc's).
Rory is sick again (boooo!) so he didn't get to go see Owen today, nor will he tomorrow. It's really hard having my two guys in two separate places!
At Grand Rounds today, it was a quick meeting! The Dr. is very happy with how Owen is doing and we're all just waiting for him to wrap up the 'eating' portion of his growth. They aren't concerned with his low iron counts. He reassured me that it is common for preemies to have low counts and that the two options to increase the red blood cells (medication or blood transfusion) serve as a temporary band-aid. His numbers would be better when he went home, but they would go back to the original numbers pretty quickly. The body has to learn how to create red blood cells itself and the two 'fixes' will only band-aid the solution. So, we wait and next Sunday they will check his numbers again and hopefully we'll see an increase!
