Go GREEN!

Owen helped cheer on MI State in the Final Four today with Daddy! Here's a shot of our little guy all decked out in green:

Sadly, MI State wasn't able to clench a win. But Owen sure did! He took a full feed by breast feeding today for the first time ever. YEA!!!!!! Here is a photo of the scale showing that he took 60 cc's (that's 2 ounces). I am SOOO proud of our little guy!

Yesterday we were treated to a nice surprise when we came into Owen's room. They took the monitor on his foot off! They said he had gone enough days without having a significant desaturation episode that we could consider him to have 'outgrown' the issue. So now there are only two cords attached to our guy - the NG (feeding) tube, and the sensors on his chest that track his heart rate and breathing rate. Those will be on until we head out of here. Or, at least the heart & breathing sensors.

The NG tube may be out of here pretty soon. Our guy took a full bottle last night at 9pm, again at 3am, again at 9am today, took 2/3 at 3pm, (all via bottle) and then a full feed via breast feeding at 6pm. We are still gavaging every other, but will move to start feeding every now that he's doing so great. 

We test his blood levels tomorrow at 9pm to find out if the EPO kicked in and improved his red blood count to the point they need to be. I know they have increased drastically just gauging by his big improvement in eating, but it will be interesting to see the numbers.

Here's one more funny photo. It's of Owen taking his hearing test. They put two sticky sensors around his ears, as well as one on his forehead, chest, and neck. The ones on his ears make swooshing noises and the sensors pick-up how quickly his brain responded to 'hearing' the noise. He passed! The photo is funny because I think it looks like his first pair of headphones!
