First let's back up and talk about how we came to this decision. Rory and I knew we would consider cloth diapers. Yeah, it's a lot of work, but we both try to live as 'green' as we can, so cloth diapers sounded like a great way to go. Also, babies have less blowouts with cloth diapers and tend to potty train faster because they can 'feel' when they are wet. All great reasons.
However, we weren't really ready to commit to cleaning cloth diapers. Yeah, there are great diaper services but we were struggling to figure out how to deal with a week's worth of dirty diapers in the house. I'm afraid my nose works a little too well to do that comfortably. Luckily, we don't have to do either - we found gDiapers!!!
gDiapers are a new product that work like this - we buy about a week's (5-7) worth of covers. We then buy inserts that go inside of the cover to catch all of the baby waste. When it's time to change the diaper, you FLUSH the insert down the toilet. Nice, right?
If the baby does have a blowout, you just wash the cover. All of the reviews we have read online rave about the product, plus the inserts are 100% biodegradable so we are definitely doing our part to avoid putting more plastic in the landfill. Finally, we can reuse the covers for any future children (and they're so darn cute!!)
