10th Percentile

Oh, Owen!

First, let's update you on what he has achieved in the past week. He heard the words 'therapy' and said, "Not for me please!" and has taken drastic leaps this week! He is now army crawling and eating foods like spaghetti and hot dogs! He's learning something new every day and is doing a great job. To be honest, with his feeding I think we are braver too. He did so poorly the first few weeks we tried feeding him (he would gag and then throw up everywhere) that we had been stepping up very slowly to new things. He's now ready, and we are too! :)

OK, on to the update! We had an appointment with a great OT/PT clinic on Monday to check up on Owen's motor skill and eating development. Even though he has improved drastically since the nurse was here, he still scored in the 10th percentile for his adjusted age. So, 90% of 9 month old children are more advanced than he is. As a reminder, he turns 1 in a couple of days. :( Poor Owen. She is not worried about his eating at all - she said it's great he's eating so much and learning new pieces so quickly! 

We got a page of 'homework' - different exercises to help strengthen his core - and we go back in two weeks for a check-up. Since we have such great insurance, and I have more free time, we agreed to go back every two weeks for new 'homework' to help him develop faster. 

Just one more day until our little guy turns 1! Can you believe it? We can't. :) 

Here's a great shot of Owen in his 'car' from Aunt Lisa & Uncle Ryan. He LOVES it and it gives us a ton of exercise too, because he NEVER WANTS TO STOP. Notice the pointed toes (he figured out they drag on the ground, so he pointed them so they don't!)
